Comment:
The data for UK refers only to Great Britain. Northern Ireland is not included. Data on railway line length for UK (2002 and 2003) are provisional. Data on 'Length of railway line in metres per 1000 inhabitants' are calculated on the basis of Eurostat data (see source) on 'Length of railway lines in km' and 'Population on 1st January of each year'.

(*) Disclaimer : For some indicators two different data sources have been used. The question is the same, but the time and the method for data collection, e.g. sample size, could be different. Therefore some caution is needed in the interpretation of the time series where different data sources have been used.
