A quittance or receipt acknowledging settlement that is surrendered by employees when the contract of employment ends does not have the effect that employees waive their rights; the quittance signifies full settlement of the sums and items expressly listed in it, but not of other claims. The wording "when the contract ends" indicates that the provision applies only to the settlement itself and not to the time when the contract actually comes to an end. Settlement may occur after the ending of the contract. However, a compromise form of settlement is still possible, provided it fulfils all the conditions as to form and content stipulated in the matter by civil law. For this, the rights and claims of the parties must be stated clearly and precisely. To be valid, a compromise form of settlement must be stipulated in explicit terms separately from the quittance acknowledging settlement which the employee surrenders at the end of the contract of employment.
