[ARBETSAVTALSHABILITET] CAPACITY TO CONCLUDE A CONTRACT OF EMPLOYMENT |
In addition to natural persons, legal persons and certain other groupings possessing specified assets can act as an employer. The 1993 Young Workers Act restricts the possibilities for an employer to hire minors on a permanent basis. The Act applies to young workers under the age of 18. The employer can, however, hire minors who have reached the age of 14 or will do so during the calendar year in question for especially light work during their school holidays, for not more than half of the holidays. The constitutional freedom to pursue an occupation, in its turn, implies that employees have the right to determine the use of their labour themselves by means of their contract. There is no compulsion to enter into a contract of employment; instead, there is a certain provisional right to work. See fundamental rights.)
