ANARCHOSYNDICALISM
| GREECE |
| ANARKHOSYNDIKALISMÓS αναρχοσυνδικαλισμόζ ANARCHOSYNDICALISM |
An expression of the labour movement and trade union movement which first emerged in the nineteenth century and is inspired by libertarian or anarchistic thinking. In Greece it first appeared around 1870, mainly at Patras and Pyrgos, and was influenced by the Italian anarcho-syndicalist movement. Its presence was particularly marked in Spain during the first third of the present century. Anarchosyndicalism rejects all co-operation with the state authorities or the employers and believes that workers' demands or claims must be pursued through direct action and confrontation at all levels.
