PERSONAL RIGHTS (OF THE EMPLOYEE)

Protection of the employee's personal rights is a basic principle of Greek labour law and requires that the employer's rights be exercised in a manner that is not personally prejudicial to either male or female employees. Examples of cases deemed to constitute violation of employees' personal rights include the allocation of tasks inferior to those appropriate to their post, subordination to the authority of someone of a lower grade, an arbitrary disciplinary sanction , a workplace of a type which offends their professional dignity, a body search which is not necessitated by the nature of their work, insulting or abusive behaviour, lewd acts, and annoyance by indecent gestures or immoral proposals (see sexual harassment in the workplace ).
