Term used to refer to the development of the tertiary (service) sector and the growing proportion of employment (both of men and, particularly, of women) represented by this sector as compared with the primary and secondary sectors. In the past few years in Greece, a phenomenon has become salient which in Italy is referred to as terziarizzazione del conflitto e delle relazioni industriali (tertiarization in industrial conflict and industrial relations): the tendency for conflict (industrial action) to shift away from the secondary sector into the service industries and the public sector (a typical example being the public utilities and services ), where, in the event of a strike, people who are not directly connected with the actual conflict also become involved.
