ACCIDENT-PREVENTION COMMITTEES

Bodies made up of company and union representatives, provided for by agreements, whose task is to prevent accidents by identifying risk factors and proposing appropriate safety measures in order to protect the physical well-being and health of the employees.

The Workers' Statute (Article 9) provided for the creation of special workers' representative bodies possibly with greater powers than the accident-prevention committees, particularly in monitoring application by the employer of the standards laid down and in promoting appropriate safety measures.
