PIECE-RATES

The rates of pay attached to units of output or time used in various piecework systems . They can be individual or collective, depending on whether the level of output is produced by a single worker or a group. Generally, the rates are calculated so as to enable the workers concerned to earn more than the basic pay agreed by collective bargaining.
