JOB ENLARGEMENT/ENRICHMENT
| NETHERLANDS |
| TAAKVERBREDING/TAAKVERRIJKING JOB ENLARGEMENT/ENRICHMENT |
Two processes of adding on tasks to the job that an employee was performing previously. In the case of job enlargement these are tasks of the same qualitative level, whereas job enrichment brings an improvement in the content of the work through the incorporation in the job of tasks of a higher qualitative level, such as elements of planning, control and preparation. From the employer's point of view, the purpose of both job enlargement and job enrichment (also referred to as taakverruiming ) is to improve the quality of work as a way, for example, of increasing motivation, productivity and flexibility of production. The disadvantages are that job enrichment may lead to greater work pressure and that employees have to start performing tasks which were not originally required of them.
