PUBLIC HOLIDAY

The Civil Code requires employers to release employees from work on Sundays and public holidays, unless it is agreed otherwise. Collective agreements usually state which days are to be days off, with pay. Compared with other European countries, the number of public holidays in the Netherlands is small.
