SICKNESS BENEFIT

Cash benefit payable to employees who are beneficiaries of the general social security system, intended to compensate for the loss of pay caused by the temporary impossibility of working owing to illness (see justified absence , suspension of the contract of employment for reasons relating to the employee ). Benefit is not paid during the first three days of inability to work, and is available for a maximum period of 1095 days. The daily amount is equal to 65 per cent. of the relevant reference pay, which is essentially equivalent to daily pay averaged over a period of six months.
