The impact of globalisation on structural change and employment

Over 250 participants attended the conference and exchanged views on four issues and their related policy challenges:

• What’s so new about globalisation - new winners and new losers?
• State of play of managing change and facing globalisation: location decisions of firms and a new international division of labour
• The role of institutional and public actors: instruments and experiences at local/regional/national/EU levels
• New trends and scenarios for globalisation? The challenges ahead and long-term strategies

Vladimír Špidla, Commissioner for Employment, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities, European Commission delivered the closing address at the conference.
