Juan Menéndez-Valdés joins Eurofound after more than 11 years as Head of Employment, Immigration, Education and Training Policies at the Spanish Confederation of Business and Industries (CEOE) and 10 years serving the Spanish Government in the National Institute for Employment (INEM).
In his previous positions, Mr Menéndez-Valdés has been responsible for analysis, assessment and strategy, as well as programme management, and over the past decade he has been extensively involved both in tripartite institutions and in high-level negotiations with government and public authorities, social partners and international organisations. At this international level, Mr Menéndez-Valdés has also extensive experience of business administration, starting with running ESF programmes at national level, and leading to his taking the Chair of the Governing Board of Eurofound's sister organisation the European Centre for the Development of Vocational Training (CEDEFOP) from 2007 to 2009. Mr Menéndez-Valdés has been a member of a number of EU Committees and national boards and councils.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Comillas in Madrid and further qualifications in Industrial Psychology and Human Resources from the university’s business school ICADE. Mr Menéndez-Valdés also holds a postgraduate degree as a specialist in European Communities from the University of A Coruña (1993) and Diplomats' School (1994).
