| Summary: | Marine fishing is a very small sector within the Dutch economy, with a contribution to GDP of about 0.1%. However, this takes into account the processing sector, which depends as much on imported raw materials as Dutch domestic production. Processing and marketing accounts for about 80% of all employment in the sector, with capture fisheries only accounting for about 15%. The contribution of capture fisheries to the national economy is thus very small: perhaps around 0.02%. |
