| Author: | Sørensen, Stig Yding; Moltesen, Josina; Haahr, Jens Henrik |
| Summary: | The Port of Rotterdam in the Netherlands is the largest port in Europe, with transport and logistics companies from all over the world choosing to locate in Rotterdam. This is due to the port’s extensive size and easy access to western and eastern European countries. The port is also linked to more than 1,000 other ports worldwide. Some 58,000 people are employed in the harbour in all areas of the transport and logistics sector. The port continues to experience growth rates of about 5% a year and in the first half of 2007 the port handled 196 million tonnes of cargo. |
