Hungary: Forum set up to tackle long-standing transport problems

Moves have been made in Hungary to tackle what have been described as ‘long-standing serious technical, employment and workplace problems affecting public transport’ in the country.

A Transport Conciliation Forum was set up by trade unions in Budapest at the end of August 2014. The process was initiated by the National Confederation of Transport Trade Unions (KSZOSZ).

It said that by setting up the forum and inviting all political parties to join, it intended to direct the attention of the government and the public to Hungary’s public transport issues. The forum aims to develop ‘meaningful cooperation for better services, based on technical standards to be established jointly, in the spirit of genuine dialogue’.
