Legal amendment to the Law on Labour Market Services and Benefits and Law on Unemployment Insurance in Estonia

Starting from April 2022, a legal amendment in Estonia will allow temporary employment during periods of unemployment without the loss of unemployment insurance benefits. This will help unemployed workers to maintain their income and will increase their attachment to the labour market. Among others, the measure eases restrictions for voluntary employment through platform companies when unemployment levels are high. The approved changes will allow workers to work temporarily for up to five days a month, but not more than 12 months in two years, while still being unemployed. They can receive a salary of up to 40 percent of the previous month's minimum wage (216€ in 2021).
