Agreement between the City of Vienna and HomeAway on the transfer of the city tax

The City of Vienna and the accommodation platform HomeAway entered an agreement according to which the platform collects the city tax and transfers it to the city treasuries. Furthermore, each quarter, the platform provides anonymised information (such as the number of accommodations and landlords) to the city. The agreement under the framework of the Vienna Promotion of Tourism Development Act was initially in place until the end of 2019. Following an evaluation phase, the agreement was extended until the end of 2021.
