EurWORK European Observatory of Working Life
Network of Eurofound Correspondents

As part of its knowledge base, Eurofound has at its disposal a network of national correspondents, based in all Member States plus Norway. The network has the following roles:
- monitoring and reporting on developments in working-life
- contributing to comparative research and thematic work
- validating and/or updating Eurofound databases, and
- supporting Eurofound outreach at national level
Input from the correspondents supports Eurofound’s research by gathering, analysing and reporting on specific developments (policies, practices and regulations) in the EU Member States in relation to the thematic areas covered in Eurofound’s Programming Document for the period 2021 to 2024, and supporting Eurofound outreach at national level.
The network may contribute to research in all of the six strategic areas set out in the Programming Document:
- Working conditions and sustainable work
- Industrial relations and social dialogue
- Employment and labour markets
- Living conditions and quality of life
- Anticipating and managing the impact of change
- Promoting social cohesion and convergence
National correspondents report regularly on developments in working life and restructuring. Working life country profiles are also in place and regularly updated based on information from the network. National contributions for representativeness studies are provided. Alongside these regular inputs, national correspondents also provide national information related to specific research questions which are either published in a comparative overview or feed into larger-scale research reports.
Given the tripartite structure of governance in Eurofound, national correspondents also assist Eurofound in reaching out to relevant stakeholders (primarily social partners, government departments and other key decision-makers/opinion-formers) in their respective Member State in a variety of ways. Correspondents are also in regular contact with members of Eurofound’s Management Board from the country concerned.
Participating in a European-wide network provides correspondents with a unique opportunity to share their expertise, to contribute to debates and to engage with topics relevant to the EU employment and social policy agenda.
