Consiglio Nazionale dell'Economia e del Lavoro (National Council for Economic Affairs and Labour).

Constitutional body with a consultative role. It gives advice to Parliament and Government on problems relating to the economy and labour issues.

The Council is made up of 111 members, 12 of them experts and the others representatives of the various areas of production. Under the Constitution, it is empowered to initiate legislation; the Law of December 30, 1986 specifies its functions of providing consultancy services, proposing legislation, carrying out research and providing information on labour relations.
