INDUSTRY-LEVEL AGREEMENT
BRANCHENKOLLEKTIVVERTRAG

In Austria, the focal point of collective bargaining is the sectoral level. Since at this level there is a very considerable degree of differentiation between related productive activities in some areas, collective agreements are frequently concluded not for an entire sector but for parts of it which are referred to as Branchen (the term Branche denoting one particular economic activity or group of allied economic activities, often simply called an “industry” in English without necessarily implying industry in the manufacturing sense). Food and drink production, for example, is a sector in which there is a particularly high degree of differentiation, with separate collective agreements concluded for the dairy, fruit-juice and brewing industries. See bargaining level.))
