AUSTRIA
MINIMUM WAGE
MINDESTLOHN

Like most countries with a relatively strong trade union movement, Austria has no statutory minimum wage regulation. Although there is therefore no national minimum wage, however, minimum rates of pay (which vary widely) are laid down in individual collective agreements. In certain sectors, (e.g. hotels and catering) the rates defined as minimum are the rates paid, but in other sectors (e.g. the metal industry) very few receive the minimum rate owing to the higher rates negotiated.
