AUSTRIA
RIGHT TO WORK
RECHT AUF ARBEIT

Austrian constitutional law does not contain a list of basic social rights, and there is (as yet) no constitutionally established right to work. Although the past few decades have witnessed a lively debate on the feasibility and advisability of such a list, particularly as regards a right to work, in political terms it has not been possible to reach a consensus on the matter that also included the employers' side. Whether there will ever be a constitutionally guaranteed right to work in the future is therefore more than questionable.
