SHORT-TIME WORKING

Situation where, usually as a temporary measure because of special or difficult circumstances, the employer reduces employees' normal working hours, with a corresponding reduction in their pay. Although the introduction of short-time working is in principle prohibited in the Netherlands, exemption may be granted by the Labour Inspectorate (see working time/hours of work ).
