Eurofound signs new framework agreement for cooperation with the International Labour Organization

Guy Ryder, Director-General of the International Labour Organization (ILO) and Ivailo Kalfin, Executive Director of Eurofound, have signed a framework agreement for cooperation between the two organisations for the 2022-2025 period. The renewed framework agreement covers joint research projects, seminars, training and sharing of expertise, and visits.

The ILO and Eurofound will collaborate on the collection, monitoring and analysis of data and modelling, covering a range of important research issues. These cover climate change and just transition, employment and social services, gender equality and work–life balance, productivity and well-being, migration, platform work and artificial intelligence, as well as skills and lifelong learning.

The framework agreement also covers the organisation of joint events and webinars, research seminars and visits, and training.

The renewed agreement builds on successful past projects on remote work, collective bargaining, working conditions and decent work; resulting in joint research reports, webinars and events, and awareness-raising communication campaigns.

The ILO and Eurofound both have tripartite governance structures and are specifically focused on topics such as employment, working conditions and social dialogue.

Eurofound’s role is to generate and communicate knowledge to assist in the development of better social, employment and work-related policies, from a comparative European perspective, whereas the ILO explores these topics from a global perspective.

‘I am very pleased to sign this new framework agreement between Eurofound and the ILO, which not only extends, but also deepens our cooperation’

said Ivailo Kalfin, Eurofound Executive Director.

‘The rapid economic and labour market changes that we have seen over the past few years, and uncertainty about the future, means that we must mobilise all available resources to ensure that policymakers and social partners can make well-informed decisions in citizens’ interests. Close cooperation between Eurofound and the ILO is a very positive development in this regard’

he added.
