Following the influx of over three million asylum seekers into the European Union in the three-year period 2015–2017, Member States faced a number of challenges related to integrating the newly arrived into their country. This report explores the role of public services – specifically housing, social services, health and education services – in the social and economic integration of refugees and asylum seekers. It aims to identify the factors that hinder this process and the elements that contribute to successful integration. The overall focus is on destination countries, particularly the three countries most affected by the inflow of refugees and asylum seekers: Austria, Germany and Sweden.

    Μετά την εισροή αιτούντων άσυλο που ξεπέρασαν τα τρία εκατομμύρια κατά την τριετία 2015-2017 στην ΕΕ, τα κράτη μέλη αντιμετώπισαν ορισμένες προκλήσεις που αφορούσαν την ένταξη των νεοαφιχθέντων στη χώρα τους. Η παρούσα έκθεση διερευνά τον ρόλο των δημόσιων υπηρεσιών — συγκεκριμένα των υπηρεσιών στέγασης, των κοινωνικών υπηρεσιών καθώς και των υπηρεσιών υγείας και εκπαίδευσης — στην κοινωνική και οικονομική ένταξη των προσφύγων και των αιτούντων άσυλο. Σκοπός της έκθεσης είναι να εντοπιστούν οι παράγοντες  που εμποδίζουν αυτή τη διαδικασία και τα στοιχεία που συμβάλλουν στην επιτυχή ένταξη των προσφύγων και των αιτούντων άσυλο. Στο επίκεντρο της έκθεσης βρίσκονται οι χώρες προορισμού, ιδίως οι τρεις χώρες που πλήττονται περισσότερο από την εισροή προσφύγων και αιτούντων άσυλο: η Αυστρία, η Γερμανία και η Σουηδία.
