The platform 'fit4internet' attempts to improve digital literacy in Austria. It provides digital competence checks at two different levels, enabling all kinds of people to check their digital skills. Furthermore, it provides a list of suitable courses and trainings in order to improve these skills, as well as a list of possible grants to cover the costs. Trainers can enlist their course offerings, which improves the matchmaking.

Of special interest for employers is one of the portal's tool, which allows their employees to test their skills anonymously. Only the accumulated results are shared with the employer, providing them with a basis of decision-making for necessary trainings regarding digital literacy.

The fit4internet instruments for recording digital skills allows citizens to record and certify their digital skills in areas such as everyday life, work, or security. The self-assessment questions (CHECK) and knowledge questions (QUIZ) used for this assessment are based on the digital competence model for Austria - DigComp 2.2 AT , which stems from the European DigComp 2.1 standard.

fit4internet is a non-profit, non-partisan and independent initiative for the qualification and increase of knwoledge and use of digital technologies and to broaden access to digitalisation within the society. The initiative is supported by the Federal Ministry for Digital and Economic Affairs.
