Opis
Modern public support to jobseekers, including redundant employees, was established through the Employment Service Agencies by the Employment and Training Act 1973 and subsequent reforms, in particular the Jobseekers Act 1995 and the Jobseeker's Allowance (Employment, Skills and Enterprise Scheme) Regulations 2011. The Employment Services were renamed JobCentre Plus in 2002, and are under direct management by the Department of Work and Pensions from 2012. The employment services are for jobseekers in general and not specifically for redundant employees. They manage specific programmes that may be set up by the Department of Work and Pensions (e.g. from 2012, the Work Programme). Services provided include the provision of temporary employment, training and work preparation schemes and the payment of allowances.
