Nakon razdoblja opreznog određivanja minimalne plaće za 2021. nominalne stope značajno su porasle za 2022. jer su se negativne posljedice pandemije ublažile, a situacija u gospodarstvima i na tržištima rada poboljšala. U tom je kontekstu 20 od 21 države članice EU-a povisilo svoje zakonski propisane minimalne plaće. Značajan rast bio je očit u državama članicama srednje i istočne Europe u usporedbi s državama članicama EU-a od prije proširenja, dok je najveći porast zabilježen u Njemačkoj. Međutim, kad se uzme u obzir inflacija, minimalna se plaća realno povećala u samo šest država članica.
Ako se sadašnji trendovi povezani s inflacijom nastave, minimalne će plaće neznatno realno rasti u svim zemljama tijekom 2022. Značajno smanjenje kupovne moći osoba s minimalnom plaćom vjerojatno će prevladavati u navedenoj situaciji ako se problem ne riješi promjenom politike tijekom godine. Postupci za određivanje minimalne plaće i povezano zakonodavstvo u EU-u uglavnom su ostali nepromijenjeni ili su neznatno prilagođeni za 2022.

This series reports on developments in minimum wage rates across the EU, including how they are set and how they have developed over time in nominal and real terms. The series explores where there are statutory minimum wages or collectively agreed minimum wages in the Member States, as well as minimum wage coverage rates by gender.
