Mapping the contours of the platform economy

The debate on the implications of the platform economy is not supported by sufficiently robust measurements and data. The methods so far used for measuring the size of the platform economy range from surveys to more ingenious techniques exploiting big data. These methods and their limitations are explored in Eurofound’s mapping of measurements of the platform economy, with a discussion of the options to address the data gap.
