Visit of EU Commissioner for Jobs and Social Rights, Mr Nicolas Schmit
Commissioner Schmit visited Eurofound, the only EU agency in Ireland and the first such decentralised agency to be established in 1975, to meet staff and discuss Eurofound latest research on Living and working in Europe, the impact of the pandemic, the challenges of the twin transition towards a greener, more digital Europe and the European Year of Youth 2022.
The visit took place on 4 March following the Commissioner’s intervention at Eurofound’s Foundation Forum on 3 March 2022 in Dublin Castle. The Forum is Eurofound’s flagship event where experts discuss and debate the EU’s most pressing topics, this year’s theme is Europe’s recovery, and how against the backdrop of the COVID-19 pandemic, the EU can work to ensure lasting equality, inclusion and social cohesion as it embarks on its path to rebuild a greener, more digital and more resilient Union.
The final, forward-looking session reflected on the day’s discussions in the context of the ongoing debate on the Future of Europe.
The Forum brought together policymakers, employer and worker representatives, national governments, thinkers and practitioners and experts.
