Eurofound and IIEA discuss labour market change and future of work

The Directors and senior staff of Eurofound and the Institute of European Affairs (IIEA) met at Eurofound, Dublin on 30 May 2022, following the recent appointment of David O’Sullivan as the Director General of IIEA. It was an opportunity to review ongoing collaboration between the two organisations, as well as discuss latest research; including on the economic, employment and social impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic across Europe, labour market shifts and the future of work.
David O’Sullivan and Eurofound Executive Director Ivailo Kalfin discussed the changing world of work, the rise of teleworking and teleworkable jobs across the EU post-pandemic, and changes to work organisation; namely the increase of new types of employment, the ‘platformisation’ of companies, and labour shortages. The discussions came as Eurofound analyses the fifth round of its Living working and COVID-19 survey, with first results due for publication in July.
David O’Sullivan and Barry Colfer expressed appreciation for Eurofound’s research.
