Work organisation is a broad concept that refers to the choices made within organisations regarding different issues such as the structure of the production process, human resource policies, the responsibilities at different hierarchical levels and the design of individual jobs. Work organisation is a key element underpinning economic and business development, with important consequences for productivity, innovation, and working conditions. Eurofound research finds that some types of work organisation are associated with a better quality of work and employment. Ongoing research by Eurofound, based on EurWORK, the European Working Conditions Survey and the European Company Survey, monitors developments in work organisation.Read less
