    2008 marked the completion of Eurofound’s four-year programme, Changing Europe: Better work, better life. Eurofound built on its work of previous years in providing comparative information, research and analysis on living and working conditions, industrial relations and the management of change for key actors in the field of EU social policy. As outlined in the 2005–2008 programme, Eurofound’s work is divided into three key tasks: monitoring and understanding change, researching and exploring what works, and communicating and sharing ideas and experience. Within these three tasks, its activities fall into four thematic areas: employment, industrial relations and partnership, work–life balance and social cohesion.

    2005 m. Fondas pradėjo įgyvendinti naują ketverių metų (2005-2008 m.) trukmės darbo programą. Savo naujos programos „Kintanti Europa – geresnis darbas, geresnis gyvenimas“ Fondas ėmėsi energingai ir turėdamas tikslą – kurti tyrimų projektus, kurie apimtų keturias prioritetines sritis, t.y. daugiau ir geresnių darbo vietų kūrimas, darbo ir gyvenimo pusiausvyros išlaikymas, dalyvavimo ir partnerystės rėmimas, socialinės sanglaudos plėtra. Verta paminėti ir svarbiausią metų pabaigos įvykį – Fondo naujojo direktoriaus Jormos Karppinen, kuris šias pareigas pradėjo eiti gruodžio mėnesį, paskyrimą.

    2006 m. vis labiau didėjant globalizacijos poveikiui ir demografiniams pokyčiams, Europa Sąjunga ruošėsi išplėsti savo sienas iki Bulgarijos ir Rumunijos. ES ir nacionalinio lygmens politikos kūrėjams teko priimti svarbius sprendimus migracijos, užimtumo, švietimo, lygių galimybių ir socialiniais klausimais. 2006 m. Fondas stengėsi atsakyti į visus šiuos klausimus ir pateikti naujausią informaciją.

    This report provides some perspectives on the effects of trade liberalisation on the European labour market. For its analysis, it draws on data from the European Restructuring Monitor (ERM), the only EU-wide monitoring instrument available. The 2007 ERM report identifies some of the recent and emerging trends in the current phase of globalisation and provides suggestions on how policy should be re-oriented to address these new circumstances.
