The riders' fight for recognition of rights, judiciary judgments and the proposals of politics (La lotta dei rider per il riconoscimento dei diritti, le sentenze della magistratura, le proposte della politica)
21 July 2018 - Minister of Labour Luigi Di Maio has called them 'the symbol of a generation abandoned by the state': they are the approximately ten thousand riders working for food delivery platforms in Italy. Their work - delivering meals on bike or scooter that are booked through the app - is an example of the gig economy, the market model based on the intermediation between users' needs and the availability of casual workers. The working conditions are under discussion. In Turin, Milan and Bologna, the riders have self-organised into social unions, claiming access to rights such as safety at work.
