Internal discord within FNV union on the accord with independent-contractor platform (FNV-bonden botsen over akkoord met zzp-platform)

2 June 2018 - Two departments within the largest Dutch union, the FNV, have come into conflict with each other over the signing of a ‘cooperation pact’ between FNV-Horeca (hospitality) and the platform Temper, which matches tens of thousands of self-employed hospitality workers with hotels, restaurants and caterers. The FNV-Horeca considers the agreement a pilot experiment that will last one year, and that is intended to help self-employed workers gain access to training, pensions and insurance. However, the department FNV-Flex (flexible work) considers the agreement a legitimisation of a bogus construction.
