Main characteristics

SIGO is an instrument for managing and monitoring demand, processes and results, fundamental for directing and guiding young people and adults to training offers that enable them to develop certified skills. Therefore, it fosters the decentralised management of the training offer. This system is coordinated by the Directorate-General of Statistics of Education and Science (Direção-Geral de Estatísticas da Educação e Ciências, DGEEC) and by the National Agency for Qualification and Professional Education (Agência Nacional para a Qualificação e o Ensino Profissional I.P., ANQEP).

Companies that wish to have officially recognised the training provided to their employees can record each training session and issue training certificates through the SIGO. This helps to provide recognition of the skills acquired by workers during their employment with a company. 

SIGO provides for a restricted access platform (i.e. for use by training providers or the employee who is responsible for training only) where the Qualifica Centres and training institutions can record the qualification paths developed in order to promote the subsequent issuance of certificates and diplomas to the employees that attended the courses.
