Het privé- en werkleven in Europa werd in 2021 voor het tweede jaar op rij in grote mate bepaald door de COVID-19-pandemie. Eurofound bleef intussen de vele verschillende gevolgen van die situatie in alle EU-lidstaten onderzoeken en vastleggen. Leven en werken in Europa 2021 biedt een momentopname van de veranderingen op het gebied van werkgelegenheid, werk en leefomstandigheden in Europa, die is gebaseerd op de onderzoeksactiviteiten van Eurofound in 2021. In dit jaarboek vat het agentschap ook zijn bevindingen samen met betrekking tot andere maatschappelijke en economische uitdagingen – zoals genderongelijkheid op de arbeidsmarkt, de ongelijke verdeling van rijkdom en tekorten aan arbeidskrachten – die grote gevolgen zullen hebben voor het herstel na de pandemie, veerkracht ten aanzien van de oorlog in Oekraïne en de overgang naar een groene en digitale toekomst. Het onderzoek van Eurofound naar de werk- en leefomstandigheden in Europa levert gedegen empirische gegevens op waaruit kan worden geput om sociaal beleid vorm te geven, en is gericht op het streven van het agentschap om de belangrijkste kennisbron van Europa te zijn ten behoeve van de verbetering van de levens- en arbeidsomstandigheden.

Het jaarboek gaat vergezeld van het Geconsolideerd jaarlijks activiteitenverslag 2021, waarin het agentschap officieel verslag uitbrengt over zijn operationele activiteiten, personeel en begroting. Dit is te vinden onder “Gerelateerde inhoud”.
