Latvian national airline, airBaltic, reports that in line with the expansion of the company and recovery of the aviation sector from the COVID-19 pandemic, it will try to increase the number of employees from its current 2,143 to 2,500 in 2023. In 2022 the airline announced 225 vacancies. The majority of job applications were for co-pilot, steward and mechanic positions, which represent the majority of professions at airBaltic currently. Job applications were received from Latvia as well as from other countries. airBaltic CEO Martin Gauss said that further increeses in the workforces are likely with the expansion of the company's air fleet.

airBaltic is a national airline in which the Latvian state is the largest shareholder (97.96%). As reported previously, during the COVID-19 crisis, the company had to reduce the number of employees (LV-airBaltic-2020). Later, with the recovery of the aviation sector the company has reported increase in the workforce (LV-airBaltic-2021).

In 2022, in total the company hired 931 new employees.
