Supermarket chain Aldi is to hire about 1,500 workers in Northen Italy, where its first 45 Italian stores will open in 2018.

Aldi has been planning its entrance in the Italian market for two years, establishing headquarters and a logistics centre near Verona in the Veneto region.

Details of the employment plan have been unveiled just before the opening of the first ten stores, planned to take place on 1 March 2018.

The management also announced most products (75% thereof) will be supplied by Italy-based partners.
