The French rolling stock maker multinational Alstom will create 200 new jobs at its work centres in Barcelona, Madrid, and the Basque Country by the end of 2021. This expansion plan aims to respond to the accelerating demand for sustainable mobility worldwide. Alstom's strategic plan envisages investing some €550 to €600 million per year in R&D.

About the employment expansion, around 100 jobs will be created at its industrial plant in Santa Perpètua de Mogoda (Barcelona), both in the production lines and in the engineering, logistics, and industrialization divisions. Around another 100 jobs will reinforce the activities of the Madrid, Getafe, and Pinto (Madrid Region) centres, specifically in the signalling and control division of railway safety systems, especially in engineering and project management. The company will also create new jobs at its centres in the Basque Country but has not provided further specific information.
