The global steel group ArcelorMittal has announced the recruitment of 530 employees at three of its sites in northern France: Dunkirk, Mardyck and Desvres. The group will hire 265 people on permanent contracts, including 200 in Dunkirk, 57 in Mardyck and 8 in Desvres. In addition, there will be 85 fixed-term contracts in Dunkirk and Mardyck and 180 employees on work-study contracts at the three sites. The job profiles sought are essentially those of production (55% of the planned hires), maintenance (35%) and other sectors of activity (shipping, logistics, etc.). These hirings aim to support three projects:
– the decarbonisation of the production process, i.e. an investment of €1.7 billion to reduce CO2 emissions by 40% by 2030 (then achieve carbon neutrality by 2050)
– the construction of a new production line to manufacture steel for electric motors in Mardyck;
– the internalisation of maintenance teams.
Beginning of April 2022, the ArcelorMittal steel site in Florange (Moselle) has announced to recruit 200 employees on permanent contracts by the end of 2022 (ArcelorMittal 2022 - FR).
