The French retail clothing company Camaieu is about to close its 27 stores in the Czech Republic and leave the country by the end of 2020 due to the poor financial situation caused by COVID-19. This will lead to the redundancy of 213 staff. Camaieu Česká now employs 117 permanent employees and another 96 temporary workers. The company has a debt of CZK 400 million (€15.3 million as at 3 August 2020) and is on the verge of bankruptcy.
Czechia is the second largest market of Camaieu in Eastern Europe; the company has been operating in the country for 18 years.
