Additional Information

On 31 October 2011, the processing and preserving cooperative CECAB announced the closure of two plants by 2015, which will affect 244 employees. The plants, specializing in the preserving of vegetables, are located in Ciel (Saône et Loire) and Rosporden (Finistère).

The management has stated that many employees will be offered relocation options to one of its 49 plants, but 70 employees will still have to be dismissed.

According to the unions, relocation is not a solution, as many of the employees will not be able to transfer, so more than 70 redundancies are expected. In addition, seasonal staff will be dismissed.

CECAB is the second largest producer of canned vegetables in France with a turnover of 2 billion euro in 2011. CECAB employs 7,000 people in 51 sites.
