Ciments Calcia, specialised in the production of slag cement and road binders, has announced the loss of 162 job cuts. The group, which employs nearly 1,300 people in France, announced the closure of the Cruas cement plant (Ardèche), the cessation of production at the Gargenville plant (Yvelines) and a reorganisation of the head office at Guerville (Yvelines). At the same time, the group announced a €300 million investment at its Airvault site. Unions said that it was a severe blow.
One previous restructuring was announced in 2017 with 40 job cuts.
