The meat processing company HKScan is planning job reductions in its meat packing unit in Forssa, Finland. The company has initiated cooperation negotiations with trade union representatives, encompassing 116 workers. Negotiations will last at least six weeks. The staff will face dismissals or and significant changes in terms of employment. The company aims to change its operating model in Forssa and has made a sizeable investment in packing and logistics. Due to the investment, some of the current staff is made redundant. The company wants to save up to € 2 million by the end of 2024.

HKScan is a multinational company with operations in Finland, Sweden, Denmark and the Baltics. The company’s headquarters are in Turku, Finland. At the end of 2020, the company had 2,375 employees in Finland, out of which 500 are located in the Forssa unit. Early in 2022, HKScan underwent similar restructuring in its operation in Rauma (55 dismissals) (HKScan-2022-FI).

The statutory change negotiations were concluded. The parties agreed that 23 jobs will be reduced in the end part departments of the production process in the Forssa unit and the changes in employment will concern 93 jobs. The job reductions will be implemented by the start of the investment between 2022 and 2024.
