Meat and poultry producer Jean Caby is taken over by the group Financiere Turenne Lafayette, resulting in 150 job cuts.

The new owner will cut 120 of 190 permanent positions in Ergué-Gabéric and 30 of 490 permanent positions in Lampaul-Guimilliau. Including 100 temporary workers and piece-workers ("tâcherons") in Lampaul-Guimilliau, the two sites employ a total of 780 staff to date.

On Friday 31 January, the central works council of Jean Caby voted in favour of the take-over.

Previously on 11 October 2013, Jean Caby had announced to cut the jobs of 80 temporary and piece-workers. 40 of those have already left the company. According the union CFDT, Jean Caby has negative financial results since several years.

As announced the French Competition Authority approved the takeover. 120 to 140 planned dismissals are reported.
