Portuguese food retail company Jerónimo Martins, owner of the Biedronka chain of stores, announced that it will create 5,000 new jobs across Poland by the end of 2014. According to the sources, the company is looking to employ managers and has launched a media campaign as part of the recruitment process. The campaign is aimed at graduates and it is in contrast to the company’s previous policy of appointing managers internally.
Accoring to the sources, the company also plans to create an additional 3,000 jobs in management by 2017. Jerónimo Martins has been operating in Poland since 1995 and employs about 50,000 people in Poland. The company has over 2,470 stores and 14 distribution centres across Poland.
The ERM reported other instances of restructuring announced by Jerónimo Martins in 2014, 2013a, 2013b, 2012a, 2012b, 2011a and 2011b.
