The Prague Airport plans to dismiss up to 450 employees, about 15 percent of the personnel, due to the COVID-19 crisis. The airport currently employs around 2,900 people.
The redundancies are scheduled to begin in late May and to continue at least until August 2020. The reason is the current restriction of traffic, as most lines are cancelled and, currently, regular flights take place only towards Minsk and Sofia.
Despite the current situation, the future development plan of the airport, including the extension of the second terminal and the construction of a new parallel track, is in so far confirmed.
The Prague Airport is the most important of the country, and in 2019 handled about 17.8 million passengers.
