Additional Information
Salling Group, the owner of some of the largest supermarket chains in Denmark, has announced it will restructure their online supermarket in Denmark closing a big distribution centre in Ishøj, resulting in 500 job losses. The distribution centre employs 500 people of which 300 work part time and are mainly students. The workforce are predominantly made up of drivers, administration staff and warehouse workers. The closure is so that the company can refocus operations, distributing locally through their supermarket chain Bilka. Salling Group will help the dismissed workers finding new jobs internally within the organisation if possible and are cooperating with the local municipality jobcenter in finding new positions externally.
A previous resutructuring event was recorded in the ERM Event database for Salling Group. In 2019, 200 job cuts took place in Brabrand, Denmark (Salling-2019-DK).
